Ubuntu 8.10 + Asus wireless setup

Recently got a new laptop, an Asus A7u with Vista. It is so slow with this OS I decided to move to Ubuntu Linux 8.10.
All works fine apart from wifi and sound. I've got a fix for wifi, but still working on sound. See below for the wifi fix.

Asus A7u Ubuntu wireless fix

With the laptop plugged into a wired ethernet connection, go to 'System, Administration, Hardware Drivers'
Disable the 'Support for Atheros 802.11 wireless LAN cards'
Open a terminal window and type:

sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-intrepid

Once this is complete, reboot your laptop.

When logged in again go to 'System, Administration, Hardware Drivers'
and enable 'Support for 5xxx series of Atheros 802.11Wireless LAN cards'

Reboot again and your wireless should now work, just double click on the network icon (top right of screen) to browse for networks.
